Lessons and Professional Staff
Whether you are new to tennis or have been playing for years, tennis lessons can help you improve your game. Our USPTA Director of Tennis/Head Pro and his certified professional staff provide a full range of lessons and instruction for individuals and groups of all skill levels.
Adult QuickStart Program - an introductory group tennis lesson program designed to get new players ready to play tennis in just three weeks. Our Tennis Pros will instruct you in all the basics, including the serve, forehand, backhand, volleys, strategy and beginning match play.
Small Group Tennis Lessons - get together with a few of your friends or your teammates on your USTA/SATA league teams and work with one of our tennis pros to develop your skills. Our tennis pros can give you drills to improve your strokes, help you with footwork and positioning and guide you on match strategies. Our tennis pros can help you develop whatever aspects of the game you desire.
Individual Tennis Lessons - if you prefer private, one-on-one instruction, our Tennis Pros will be happy to work with you on an individual level. They'll help you improve and fine-tune your game in no time at all!

Marty Rothfels Tennis Director Marty has been the Head Tennis Pro/Director of Tennis for Gold River since 1986, with an extensive and remarkable background in the sport. Being a top-ranked junior for Utah/Intermountain from 1970 - 79, Marty also trained under the expert guidance of Stanford University’s Dick Gould and Foothill College’s Tom Chivington. Marty is a UC Davis graduate ranked in the Top 10 in NCAA Division II during his tenure. He attained a USTA NorCal #1 ranking in Men's Open Doubles in 1984 and has numerous National Gold Ball Titles in Doubles and Mixed Doubles as well as multiple National 10.0 Team Championship titles. A USPTA-Certified Professional since 1985, Marty has assisted in event production for 26 years with USTA, NCTA, NCAA, SATA, World Team Tennis and Spare Time Inc. |

Chris Gerety Senior Tennis Professional Chris has been with Gold River for since 1992 years. He has been coaching since 1988 working with thousands of players and conducting major events during his lifetime career in the tennis industry.

Chris Potthast, USPTA Senior Associate Tennis Professional Chris has been a proud staff member here at Gold River Racquet Club since 1993. He is motivated to introduce, develop and provide fun and informative tennis experiences for recreational and competitive juniors and adults.

Amine Khaldi Senior Tennis Professional/Sports Science & Technical Specialist Amine has been coaching at Gold River since 2002 developing a variety of players from recreational to section and national top-ranked competitive players. Amine is passionate about his players having the best experience on court. In addition to dedicating vast amounts of hours on court-teaching commitments, Amine has continued his own competitive success with National USTA Team titles and individual national tournament performances.

Keith Gilbert USPTA, Associate Tennis Professional Keith has been coaching tennis since 1992 working with all ages and abilities from four-year olds to seniors. Keith is a USPTA Pro 1-Certified coach who has trained junior league teams, Adult USTA league teams, and all levels of recreational and competitive students.

Kelly Wilson, USPTA Associate Tennis Professional Kelly has been coaching since 1993 and a professional player her whole life. She loves the game of tennis and is driven to share her great ideas to help you improve your game. Kelly has been winning National Gold Balls these past years too numerous to list. Additional USTA National Team Titles in Mixed and Women’s league play, have added to her continued fame as a player. Kelly is developing our top USTA adult league players and is the lead professional for our "Gold River Elite Approach Tennis" junior program. Kelly is a huge asset to Gold River Racquet Club.

Milun Doskovic, USPTA Associate Tennis Professional Milun has been coaching tennis since 1996 years in Yugoslavia and the United States. He was head coach at the first private - and most prestigious club in Yugoslavia and was assistant coach of the Yugoslav Junior National Team. Milun has coached professional players, university caliber players and many players of all levels through club training programs. While obtaining double Masters degrees in Clarinet and Performance, he coached at top facilities in Connecticut coaching beginning classes, men's team workouts, women's aerobic tennis drill classes and private lessons.

Bobby Martinez Associate Tennis Professional - Junior Coordinator Bobby has been coaching tennis at Gold River for six years, having previously trained here under head coach Marty Rothfels. Bobby has been the Junior Coordinator at Gold River since 2009 and is co-directing the “G.R.E.A.T.” junior program for both recreational and developing section-ranked players. In addition to our top juniors, Bobby contributes to all levels of adult competitive play. Bobby's accomplishments as a Tennis Professional at Gold River continue to accumulate:

Rob Kendall Associate Tennis Professional Rob joined the great team of professionals at Gold River in 2010. Rob brings 10 years of coaching experience and has already made a huge impact at the club. Rob directs all Youth Tennis League events from tournaments to Quick Start Carnivals to 10 & under USTA programs. In addition to junior development, Rob has been directing workouts for the top 4.5 men through the entire USTA ranks at Gold River. Join Rob on the courts and get your game to a new level!

Michelle Bynum Associate Tennis Professional Michelle has coached for many years and has been playing tennis since her youth. Michelle had a great career as a junior and collegiate tennis player. Still active as a tournament and league player, Michelle will be able to refine everyone’s tennis success and enjoyment. Currently coaching USTA teams and members of all ages, Michelle will help plan your tennis growth for the future ahead.
